Metaphor continuity · three chains · one thread never explained

Symbols across halls

Each symbol is three things: the image in the story, the part of a person it names, and the change it files in the body. Follow one across halls. Never explain the last thread.

3 halls · timing

Wolf / treeline / Two Socks

Metaphor
The creature who decides the timing. Stillness brings it. Reaching pushes it back.
To the person
The part that hunts what it wants — love, trance, a career, a child — and then stands in an empty treeline smelling of need.
How it generates change
Available, not eager. Sit down. Look at the grass. Let the creature set the pace. This is machine six, and also Elkwater, and also 'her pace is her pace.'
Eight Days

Present. Working underneath.

The Recurring Day
  • The corridor folds and the wolf does not notice.
The Man Who Sold His Own Furniture
  • The wolf takes from the open hand.
